Android Browser Not Loading Web Pages While On Wi-Fi
by Hans Petter
I recently came across a problem where the browser on my Nexus One would not load any web pages. More specifically I got the message “Web Page Not Available”, which typically shows when there is no internet connection available. The strange thing was that all other applications, e.g. GMail, had access to the internet.
To fix it, open Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Proxy settings. Press the “Clear” button, save, and reboot. If you’re as lucky as me, you should now have a working browser again.

Wow! You’re a lifesaver! Thank you, very much!
I had the same problem and the same solution. It never occured to me to check the proxy settings because I am 100% sure I never did set a proxy. It must have inherited it from some DHCP-server and then kept them I guess. One other flaw on the nexus.
I have facing the same problem, googled and found your page.
The problem is only on my desire hd wifi hotspot. It works well with a normal 2wire router, and my friend’s nexus1 wifi hotspot.
Unfortunately, a lot of ROMS don’t have the wifi proxy setting, so I went to look for apps that do it. Tried, but unlucky, web pages still aren’t loading, while gtalk/gmail works.
Had a simular problem, but my Android Settings -> Wireless & networks … does NOT HAVE a “Proxy settings” option
“my Android Settings -> Wireless & networks … does NOT HAVE a “Proxy settings” option”
But it might have it somewhere else! Try:
Settings-> Wireless and network -> Mobile networks-> Access Point Names->
You should see a entry there for Proxy. I had a problem on my SGS2 where exchange would only work through Wifi, not data. In the end, this was resolved by my network operator – O2 – who got me to delete my APN and recreate it.
It worked for me!
those who cant see proxy setting in android 2.1 install “gesture search” app and search for proxy in that app.
Thank you so much! Fixed my problem on Samsung phone.
Thank you worked for my samsung
